Popis: A two-component projectile nose cone was required whose outer envelope would provide a stable aerodynamic shape during launch and flight and be frangible upon water impact. Full-scale components with specific mechanical properties were fabricated using electroforming technology. Compressive strengths between 175--210 kg/mm{sup 2} with minimum ductility were obtained with a nickel deposit containing 0.08% sulfur. 4 refs., 13 figs., 2 tabs.
