The effect of different regular microreliefs formed by preliminary ball-vibroburnishing of a steel 10 on the corrosion behavior of the steel itself or its electroplates with nickel, including those with a copper sublayer, is investigated. Compared to grinding, ball-vibroburnishing, producing a regular microrelief, enhances the corrosion resistance of both the substrate and the coating when tested in a humidity cabinet and a salt-spray camera. The electroplate's thickness even can be reduced with no loss in the protective effectiveness. |
