Popis: |
Sagital otoliths of Trachinus draco sampled from occidental Tunisian waters (North Tunisia), were analyzed for the first time in order to compare otolith pairs (Left-Right) and also between sexes using biometrics data (conventional otolith morphometric variables: area, length and width) and contour shape (external outlines). The contour shape and morphometric variables of the otolith were considered as a good tool to differentiate Greater weever genders, also there were inconsistencies in the symmetry of the otolith pairs of this species. This asymmetry is used as measures of developmental instability resulting from anthropogenic or natural disturbances. |
