Physical and tribological properties of Al6061-B4C MMCs

Popis: Chosen resources over Al6061alloys are Aluminum (Al) Metal Matrix Composites (Al-MMCs) in conveyance, astronomical, and aquatic applications subsequently they have advanced attributes over Al6061alloys. Al-MMCs occupied by Boron Carbide (B4C) upsurge tribological attributes. The results of tribological attributes of Al6061 base occupied with B4C is explained. MMCs were produced with 0,1,2,3 weight % (wt.%) occupancy of B4C. Density and microstructure examination was done. The tribological attribute tests were as per standards of ASTM G99. The tribological attributes of MMCs confirm the improvement over base metal Al6061. The density has dropped due to low value of density of B4C as compared to Al6061. The microstructure shows the presence of particulates and has confirming the suitability of stir casting to produce MMCs.
