Popis: It has been well known, since the early studies of Franklin and Gosling (1953), that solvent influences the helical conformations of nucleic acids. Since then a variety of experimental techniques have been used to study the interactions of solvent with nucleic acids, including infrared spectroscopy (Falk et al., 1963), gravimetric studies (Falk et al., 1962) and fibre diffraction (Leslie et al., 1980). These studies have been reviewed by Texter (1978) and Saenger (1984).
