Popis: An investigation was made of the possibility of using ozone as an oxidant in a chemical CO laser based on oxidation of carbon disulfide. It was found that the efficiency of SF/sub 6/ as a diluent was considerably higher than that of He or Ar. A specific energy of 4.5 mJ/cm/sup 3/ was obtained: this was twice as high as that obtained for a CS/sub 2/+O/sub 2/ mixture under optimal conditions. (AIP)
