Background: Elimination of intracanal microorganisms is essential for determination of the success of root canal therapy. This can be achieved through combination of mechanical preparation of the root canal along with disinfection with irrigants and intracanal medications. Resistant microorganisms create like E. faecalis an obstacle for achieving optimum disinfection. Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the antimicrobial efficiency of diclofenac potassium paste in comparison to triple antibiotic paste against Enterococcus faecalis count developed in single rooted root canals by bacterial count determination. Methods: Forty two human extracted single rooted teeth with single canals will be selected for this study. After chemomechanical preparation sample 1 will be collected. After that teeth will be inoculated with E. faecalis and sample 2 will be taken. Then the samples will be divided into 3 groups (n=14) each group for a tested medicament. Group 1 (triple antbiotic paste), group 2(diclofenac potassium paste), and group 3 (no medicament was applied). All teeth will be temporary sealed and left in an incubator for 7 days then sample 3 will be taken after medicament removal. Bacterial reduction count will be counted (CFU/ml) after cultivation in agar culture for all 3 samples. |
