Popis:	Large associative memories for modern database applications cannot be implemented in highly integrated semiconductor technology. However other realizations, in the form of “associative disks” or “intelligent mass memories”, have been the subject of research and development for many years. The central points of interest are above all the required features and implementations of the logic necessary to form a search processor. Initially, a few basic considerations towards the development of such search processors are outlined. After an introduction to the system environment and the task profile, the search processor component of the Relational Database Machine RDBM currently under development at the Technical University of Braunschweig is described.
