Popis: The concern of the present studies was the impact audiovisual technology might have on the perceived guilt or innocence of a crime suspect. In Study 1, participants reported their expectations of a person suspected of a crime or applying for a job. Expectations for the suspect were overwhelmingly unfavorable; expectations for the applicant were neutral to positive. In Study 2, participants were told that the person they were about to see interviewed was a crime suspect or a job applicant. Participants viewed the interview live or over a television monitor and reported their evaluations of the person interviewed. Greater guilt was attributed to the crime suspect when seen on a television monitor than when seen live. Connections between prior expectations and later evaluations are made.
