Popis: | Objective: To determine the quality of vision with the TRUE VISTA bifocal intraocular lens (IOL). Study Design: Prospective study of postoperative results at 1–5 days, 2–3 weeks and 4–8 weeks after surgery. Setting: Ophthalmic out-patient department, University Eye Hospital Mannheim. Patients: Thirty-four adults (best cases) at 2–3 weeks and 28 cases at 4–8 weeks. In 16 of the 28 patients at 4–8 weeks a monofocal IOL had been implanted in the fellow eye. Main Outcome Measures: Uncorrected and best corrected distance and near acuity, astigmatism and contrast sensitivity (CS) (VCTS 6500 chart systems and Pelli-Robson Chart). Results: Both visual acuity and CS (VCTS) increased significantly with postoperative follow up interval and decreased with increasing astigmatism. CS (VCTS) was reduced significantly with bifocal IOLs at medium spatial frequencies if compared with the monofocal fellow eye. Acuity and CS (Pelli-Robson Chart) did not differ significantly. Conclusions: CS is reduced with bifocal IOLs at short-time follow-up and astigmatism reduces visual acuity in patients with bifocal IOLs. |
