Synthesis and study of the polymerization of divinylsiloxane oligomers and their copolymerization with isoprene

Popis: 1. Theα,ω-divinylmethylethyl (dimethylsiloxane) andα,ω-divinyldimethyl(phenylmethylsiloxane) oligomers were synthesized. 2. A study was made of the kinetics of the bulk polymerization of 1,5-divinyl-1,5-diethyl-1,3,3,5-tetramethylsiloxane in the presence of tert-butyl peroxide by the dilatometric method, and the rate constants and activation energy were determined. 3. A study was made of the copolymerization of isoprene with 1,11-divinyl-1,11-diethyldecamethylhexasiloxane (oligomer I) and with 1,11-divinyl-1,1,3,5,7,9,11,11-octamethyl-3,5,7,9-tetraphenylhexasiloxane (oligomer II), and the relative activities of these pairs of compounds were determined. The relative activities of oligomers I and II in the copolymerization with isoprene are much lower than the relative activity of isoprene.
