Popis: There is a spatial cognitive cost for remembering object locations when integrating locations in vertical space. Specifically, when asked to indicate the location of an object that is across floors, accuracy tends to be lower compared to judgments about object locations within floors. A similar pattern also appears during horizontal integration tasks, as judgments tend to be more accurate for object locations within a route compared to judgments across routes. Individual differences in the rate and accuracy of horizontal integration have emerged, with some people performing well for within and across locations while others perform poorly at both. Currently, these individual differences in integration have only been elucidated in one dimension: horizontal space. Therefore, the current study will take an individual difference approach to investigate navigational differences in vertical space and characterize performance using spatial cognitive measures and demographic information. This work contributes to the long line of individual differences in spatial cognition and will provide further insight into how well people can remember locations in vertical space.
