Popis: In joint replacement surgery, the prerequisite for clinical success is the achievement of good and fast bone-implant osseointegration. Osseointegration can be defined as the contact which intervenes, without interposition of non-bone tissue, between normal remodeled bone and an implant which can bear the distribution of load from the implant to and inside the bone tissue. The contact area between the implant surface and the bone is called bone-implant interface. This is the area where the biology of bone ingrowth takes place. Bone ingrowth can be defined as the formation of bone tissue inside the porous surface of an implant.
