Variational calculation of lower excited states in a chemical bistable system

Popis: The eigenvalue problem associated with the Fokker-Planck equation for Schlogl's model is discussed. The first few excited states are calculated using a variational method. The first eigenvalue gives the decay process of the metastable state. The higher eigenvalues are compared with Suzuki's intermediate time scale.
