Popis: | Children’s meaning making of life and death was studied within a sociocultural perspective. Transcriptsfrom qualitative interviews with 26 pupils (eight years old) were analyzed thematically and resulted insix themes organized in three discourses: Bereavement/loss-discourse, Appropriate to be sad andPredetermined lifeline; Scientific discourse, Knowledge of the heart and Knowledge of causes of death;Religious discourse, Reincarnation via heaven and Dualism. Meaning making of life and death seemedlinked to specific experiences and sociocultural macro context. The authors claim continuousdevelopment of meaning content occurs through active use of language and participation in collectivesof practice. The authors propose inclusion of children in talks about life and death, taking the child’sperspective and use of explicit communication. |
