Popis: | A series of random and block copolymers of styrene and methylmethacrylate has been prepared and characterized and the adsorption behavior on silica found from several solvents, in particular, from benzene and trichloroethylene. Specific adsorption measure-ments have been supplemented by infrared determinations of bound fractions. Relatively few methacrylate groups are necessary to bind the copolymers to the silica surface. Little variation in specific adsorption is found over a wide range of copolymer composition and within this range the fraction of bound groups (of both structures) is approximately constant. Only rather small differences in adsorption behavior are shown by the random and block copolymer structures. |
