Popis: World energy use, doubling every 30 years, was 18.6 terawatt-years in 2018 when 2% of yearly energy use was provided by solar cells and wind turbines, both having doubled in cumulative installed capacity every 2.6 years since 1983. Should these doublings continue 6 more times, global temperature could be flattened to no more than a constant 1.69-1.85oC rise by the 2030s when solar and wind could displace all fossil fuel energy use. The successful halting of global-warming strongly depends on public-policy-supported sustainable technology developments for when the sun does not shine and the wind does not blow locally.
