Popis: | Role of liposomes as the carriers of mannophosphoino-sitides (PIMs) antigen of mycobacteria have been investigated. PIMs when incorporated in liposomes made of egg phosphatidylcholine (EPC) and cholesterol (CH)/ in a molar ratio of 2: 1. 5 respectively/ elicited both humoral (anti-PIMs IgG) and cell-mediated (DTH) immune responses in mice. Further/ lipid A containing liposomes as carriers of PIMs were observed to induce almost two times more anti-PIMs immune responses as compared to those without lipid A. These findings clearly establish that the lipid A containing liposomes not only replace FIA, but are even better adjuvants for PIMs. |
