Popis: Construction industries have long been considered as one of the most dangerous industries which are responsible for high fatality and injury rates. Earlier research in India has shown that only little group of constructions have confirmed good safety performance, whereas huge construction groups maintain higher injury rates. This is because the groups with good safety performance develop and implement safety systems by their resources, however, other groups do not have adequate features to implement. Hence, to improve the overall industry performance, it is important for every organization types to focus improvement efforts on safety systems. In order to improve occupational health and safety (OHS) performance in every construction types, this paper identifies the differences of OHS promoting barriers among different types of construction in India. The questionnaire was developed to investigate the barriers in promoting OHS among residential and commercial type. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to identify the significant difference among construction types. The outcome of the result helps to be aware of barriers among construction industry which limits good OHS and potential actions for growth.
