Site preparation for ideal implant placement in the aesthetic zone is an important concept to achieve successful aesthetic results and patient satisfaction. Several procedures have been applied by many clinicians. In order to perform ideal site preparations, we should understand biologic, anatomic, surgical, and prosthetic principles so that we could select the optimal procedure for a particular case at the optimum timing. The sites should be prepared for also long-term predictable peri-implant aesthetic outcomes. Although generally bone and/or soft tissue augmentation are performed for implant site preparation, high technique-sensitive procedures are sometimes required to reconstruct compromised site for future optimal implant placements. Considering a risk of surgical failure and trauma, we should know alternative approach for site preparation with risk assessment. Procedures and concepts for ideal site preparation in three different timings (pre-extraction, at extraction, healed sites) would be described in this chapter. |
