Subsequently, the boy experienced mild persistent discomfort and was referred to the Mayo Clinic in July 1981. Examination of the shoulder revealed no abnormalities. The patient had a full range of motion and normal strength. Muscle atrophy was not present. Mild tenderness was noted over the anterior shoulder capsule. Results of laboratory evaluation were normal. Roentgenograms of the left shoulder revealed a well-circumscribed, radiolncent lesion that had a sclerotic rim and was located in the epiphysis findings suggestive of a chondroblastoma (Fig. 1 A and B).
