The article identifies the regions in which the various synecological theories and methods are utilized. The application of synecological theory is traced for the main components of multiple use of forests, that is utilization, silviculture, protection, conservation of flora and fauna, recreation and catchment management. Finally, an attempt is made to assess the degree to which synecology has influenced forest management in a number of countries, including Canada, the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, Papua-New Guinea and Western Australia. |
