Popis: The most frequent benign tumor of the female genital organs is leiomyoma of the uterus. On average, 20% of European women over 35 years of age are affected by it. In the Afro-American population, the incidence is 2-3 times higher than in the Caucasian population. The female endocrine system can stimulate these myomas which may grow to extreme sizes and thus complicate pregnancy and delivery. Here, we report on a successful pregnancy with an extremely large myoma of the uterine fundus in a 37-year-old woman from Ghana (Grav II, Para I). The pregnancy was prolonged successfully up to 34 weeks' gestation. Because the patient's clinical condition dramatically worsened on day 34+4 of GA, a cesarean section was performed. The baby presented in breech position with a weight of 2170 g and a good ABG. Subsequently, enucleation of the leiomyoma was performed. The histological findings showed a leiomyoma with regressive changes and no sign of malignancy. The patient was discharged from the hospital in good clinical condition on the 8th postoperative day.
