Popis: Biological synthesis of nanomaterials (NM) is trending research in contemporary times since they are associated with several advantages over the chemical synthesis. They are cost-effective, environmentally safe, and loaded with bioefficacy toward bacteria, viruses, and fungi. The latest disclosure of their potential role in plant protection is commendable. The physicochemical properties, larger surface area, and other specific characters of biogenic NM can have great promise for developing new products and tools for crop protection. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized from plants and other biomaterials are widely known for their antimicrobial activity in the past; however, in recent years, they are also been studied for various insectistatic potential. They are proved to be good toxicants, repellents, and growth retardants to several insect pest species; particularly, their mosquitocidal activity is highly remarkable. The green synthesis of AgNPs, using plants as reducing and capping agents, can cause mortality in almost all stages of mosquitoes, i.e., egg, larval, and adult stages, besides producing acute toxicity, fumigant, antifeedant, repellent, and attractant properties, as well as reproductive inhibitors for many agricultural and stored product pest species, at a lower dose than the chemically synthesized NP.
