Popis: | The use of a reliable safe method of contraception is important for women with multiple sclerosis. Proper and systematic use of reliable methods of contraception should be followed to avoid the need for abortion or the risk of giving birth to a child with developmental disabilities. At the same time, the use of contraception in women with MS has certain features, which determines the importance of studying the problem. The objective: to investigate the use of drugs to prevent unwanted pregnancies among women with multiple sclerosis. Materials and methods. The level of use of various contraceptive methods in women with multiple sclerosis and features of contraception in this category of patients are analyzed. Results. 35.3% of women with MS use contraceptive methods. The most common method is barrier (condoms) – 32.8%. With age, the frequency of contraceptive use in women with MS decreases and in the age group of 39–49 years, the vast majority of women (85.7%) do not use any methods of contraception. Conclusions. The critically low level of contraceptive use among women with MS increases the risk of adverse effects, including the birth of a sick child or the deterioration of a woman’s condition due to abortion. An informed choice of contraceptives is important in providing quality comprehensive care. Keywords: contraception, multiple sclerosis. |
