Popis: | In this paper we examine how the joint strength of lap joints containing a brittle adhesive may be affected by partial removal of adhesive from the bonded area. It is found that the shear strength in tension of a lap joint specimen is governed essentially by the leading edges of the joint and not by the bonded area. |
