Popis: | Destruction of heterochain polymers, such as poly(ethyleneterephthalate), achieved under the action of mechanical energy or of γ-rays, is accompanied by the accumulation of an increasing number of functional end-groups, which are able to react with suitable difunctional reagents. Thus, processes are greatly influenced by conditions, e.g. processing time, ratio of reactants, temperature and atmosphere (inert, oxgen, etc.), in which the reaction occurs. The polycondensation products so obtained exhibit properties different from those of the original polymer, viz. increased thermal stability, permanent magnetic moment and chemical resistance. |
