Popis: Niclosamide, the active ingredient in a schistosome topical antipenetrant lotions, was tested for its potential to produce dermal sensitization. The guinea pig maximization test was used to evaluate dermal sensitization potential. Grade III (moderate) dermal sensitization to the niclosamide was obtained in this study. These results suggest that there is probable risk that the active ingredient in the schistosome topical antipenetrant lotion will induce contact sensitivity in humans.
