Popis: In this contribution some specific problems inherent to pulsating stars observations are reviewed. we describe how to estimate fundamental stellar parameters through empirical and semi-empirical calibrations as well as how to obtain additional information from the observation in other bands of chromospheres and coronas. A detailed description is then given on how to correct photometric data for atmospheric extinction. Through a description of a “blind” statistical approach to cluster surveys we will then underline how important information about pulsating variables resides in the class more than in the individual.
