Correlation between XANES of the transition metals in ZnS and ZnSe and their limit of solubility

Popis: Systematic studies of XANES at the K-edge of cations in ZnS, ZnSe and Zn TMS and ZnTMSe compounds with TM being a transition metal (Mn, Fe, Co, Ni) were performed. The concentrationof TM ranged up to their solubility limit. The shape of the K-edge is mainly determined by the type of anion and does not depend on the TM concentration. Three peak structure is found for the cation K-edge in ZnTMS whereas a two peak structure is observed in ZnTMSe. There is a strong correlation between the limit of solid solubility of each TM and their XANES structure. The intensity distribution of TM K-edge reproduces better the shape of the Zn K-edge when the solubility limit of this TM is larger.
