Opacity studies with laser-produced plasma as an x-ray source

Popis: The laser-produced plasma is an intense x ray source of high brightness competitive with electron synchrotron sources. The potential of this source for the purpose of opacity studies of cold and hot dense matter are illustrated with results from experimental work recently performed. Measurements of the absorption coefficient of cold and radiatively heated material (carbon and gold) in a temperature range up to about 150 eV are presented.
