Popis: The surface modification of inorganic nanoparticles (e.g. nanofillers) is increasingly becoming important as surface functionalization is a prerequisite for achieving enhanced properties and designing materials with new properties. Modified layered silicate can be used as crosslinking agent for thermoplastic polymers or elastomeric materials. The concept is the exchange of the sodium cation by functional metal cations. The aim was to immobilize multifunctional metal ions, which could be employed as crosslinking agents for aqueous polymer dispersions and solutions. An UV reactive montmorillonite, bearing immobilized Fe3+ ions as photoactive species was prepared for UV assisted radical crosslinking of Polyvinylalcohol. As the active species is bound onto the MMT particle surface, no leaching out occurs; this would be crucial for the application for the fabrication of products for biomedical applications A cation-exchanged montmorillonite clay is prepared as filler material with high dispersibility, that sho...
