Francisco Cardoso, MD, PhD, FAAN, is a Brazilian neurologist. He finished Medical School in Maceio, his hometown, and did a Residency in Clinical Neurology at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. After he returned from a Movement Disorders Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, he became faculty at the Department of Internal Medicine—Neurology at UFMG. He is Professor of Neurology and head of the Movement Disorders Unit. In addition to doing clinical work and education of Medical students, residents, fellows and graduate students, he is involved with research in Movement Disorders. His main areas of interest are choreas, epidemiology as well as genetics of movement disorders. He has a longstanding involvement with the International Parkinson and Movement Disorders Society (MDS). He has served in numerous committees, was Secretary of the Society and Chair of the Pan-American Section. |
