A watershed is a natural functional unit established primarily by physical relationships and secondarily by social communication and actions. Depletion of forest cover and excessive use of land and water resources results in deterioration of the watershed. The runoff causes soil erosion, deposition of sediments. By adopting various conservation practices the watershed can be restored. A complete watershed can not be treated due to financial constraints. Prioritization will facilitate in addressing problem areas to arrive at suitable solutions. |
