Popis: In order to attain a certain desired behaviour of turbulent flow, such as drag reduction, minimization/maximization of mixing or the reduction of separation, the basic idea is to control the flow by interacting with the coherent (large-scale) structures. Efficient control requires deeper understanding of the underlying dynamics of such structures. Properly carried out numerical simulations can provide access to detailed three-dimensional and time-dependent information about the flow field, which then can be used to evaluate conclusions for an efficient control scheme.
