Popis: At the end of World War II, people considered Iceland an underdeveloped country. The use of IBM punched card systems started in 1949. The first computers appeared in 1964. Then the University of Iceland acquired an IBM 1620 “scientific” computer. The first computer language used to instruct engineers and scientists was FORTRAN II. The subsequent development gives an interesting picture of the advance of computer technology in Iceland.
