Popis:	This review of the reported experiments on the Soret coefficient correlates the often divergent findings with the existence of a recently discovered buoyancy driven instability which arises when the more dense component migrates to the heated plate (when heating from above). It is shown that many of the discrepancies between experimental results can be accounted for by the instability.
