Popis: The application of a unified variant of the k-e model to the analysis of high-speed shock wave boundary layer interactions (SWBLI’s) is described. The extended model contains a wellcalibrated compressibility-correction (CC) shown to work adequately for a broad variety of basic free shear and wall bounded flows, and additionally solves scalar fluctuation model (SFM) equations providing for the variations in turbulent Prandtl (and Schmidt) numbers. In the work described, a blended model is described which utilizes a low Re SSGZ model in the near wall region, and the SFM damping terms have been calibrated to be compatible with this near wall model. The paper describes the turbulence and SFM equations utilized, and provides comparisons with data for a variety of SWBLI problems. Use of the SFM for obtaining Prandtl number variations in the boundary layer is shown to provided marked improvements in comparing to the data. A number of classic SWBLI data sets have been analyzed in addition to new data sets obtained by CUBRC in their shock tunnel facilities.
