Popis: | Serial bibliographic records in OCLC are frequently updated by CONSER institutions to reflect changes in the publications. However, these updates are not automatically transferred to a library's local system. The discrepancies between exiting local serial records and enhanced OCLC records widen as a local catalog matures in age. A short-term study was conducted at the IUPUI University Library by comparing sample records in the local system with their counterparts in current OCLC to determine the percentage and frequency of local records being changed in OCLC, trie types and contents of enhancements being made, as well as their implications upon catalog users. |
