Popis: | Aim : To evaluate&compare the effectiveness&tolerability of Fluorinol&potassium nitrate based gel with toothpaste having mineral fluoride&potassium nitrate on patients suffering from dentinal hypersensitivity. Material and method : Seventy patients (35 males&35 females within age group of 18-60 years were randomly allocated to the test group (Second generation amine fluoride - Fluorinol&Potassium nitrate group (n=35)&control group (Mineral fluoride&Potassium nitrate group (n=35). Sensitivity assessment was done through Schiff air sensitivity scale&visual analogue scale, at baseline (defined as the time period just prior to initiation of treatment) (V1), day 3 (V2), day 7 (V3) and day 14 (V4). Enrolled subjects were advised to gently apply the given product with their finger tip on the affected tooth surface(s) thrice daily and not to rinse out for 30 minutes Comparisons of the treatment groups at different time intervals were done using unpaired t-test. Results : The test group has more marked reduction in mean Schiff air index (94.96%) and VAS (92.98%) scores over the period of 2 weeks as compare to the control group, which showed a reduction of 81.51% and 84.5% in their mean Schiff air index and VAS scores respectively. Conclusion : Fluorinol based gel was more effective for daily home treatment of Dentinal hypersensitivity over a period of time. |
