Primary malignant lymphoma of the breast is rare. Among 86 cases of this disease reported in Japan, only seven have shown leukemic manifestation. In the present paper a case of primary malignant lymphoma of the breast resulting in leukemic manifestation is reported together with a reveiw of literature.A 78-year-old female with a tumor 8.0 cm in diameter in the left superior lateral breast underwent modified mastectomy. The disease was histologically diagnosed as plasmacytoid immunoblastic lymphoma of the B-cell type. Based on the Ann Arbor classification, it was categorized as stage IEA malignant lymphoma originating from the breast. Despite postoperative radiotherapy and VEPA therapy, the patient presented local recurrence in the 3rd month after operation and leukemic manifestation in the 6th month. She died in the 7th month. |
