Popis: | Oral and written communication skills are fundamental pillars for success in the labour market. However, it has been observed that the vast majority of recent graduates present communication problems that are reflected in pre-employment interviews and remain for long periods. These difficulties should be detected early, even during the academic training, so that measures can be taken to combat a very damaging problem to these future professionals. In this sense, this investigation aims to study the oral communication apprehension of students who attended the degrees in accounting in Portuguese higher education during the academic year 2019/2020. The scale was applied in 13 higher education institutions, being studied in 813 students (38% male and 62% female), with ages between 17 and 63 years old. We used a quantitative approach methodology by using the SPSS 27 software to analyse the obtained results, carrying out statistical tests of data validity and reliability. This investigation presents an important contribution to the body of literature since it allowed to evaluate the level of oral communication apprehension of Portuguese accounting students who study this area of knowledge. This is a study never done before in Portugal in the accounting field. In future investigations, the results may be extrapolated to other national and international realities. |
