Popis: | This paper describes a relay operation event due to a nearby transmission line switching. The relay data from the event was obtained and compared with the results from a dynamic simulation of the event. When switching a transmission element, a generator nearby may experience a sudden power change at its terminals. The magnitude of such a power change is a function of the angle across the open breaker before the reclosure. Based on the closely matched simulation results, the cause of the relay operation was confirmed and the recommendation on changing the relay setting was implemented to prevent a similar operation from tripping generators in the future. |
