Popis:	The Douglas-fir beetle, Dendroctonus pseudotsugae Hopk., is a constant threat to Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco) forests because of its ability to kill large quantities of this important timber tree. In the search for more effective control of this pest the need for experimental insects frequently exceeds the supply from natural sources. Laboratory rearing can alleviate this shortage.
