Popis: The implementation of low-income residential energy efficiency measures is critical to a sustainable and equitable energy transition. Unfortunately, participation in low-income energy efficiency programs is typically low. Researchers have speculated that limited participation in these programs is due, in part, to a lack of information about the programs. In response, researchers at Carnegie Mellon University evaluated existing communications. They found that there are indeed instances where the program description inadequately informed readers. As such, they have created a framework for creating sufficiently informative communications. As a test of the framework, they have taken web pages describing the low-income energy efficiency programs of three electric distribution companies and revamped their content in accordance with the framework. They are collecting data to see how people respond to the different web page versions (original vs revamped). Findings from this study are intended to provide insight into how electric distribution companies can improve the communication and design of their low-income energy efficiency programs.
