Businesses may experience crisis due to various factors. While they are experiencing these crises, they do some practices in addition to the management approaches applied in routine periods. The adequacy of these practices can enable businesses to get out of the crisis with the least damage and even benefit from the crisis. The tourism in Turkey broke a record in 2014 in terms of the number of the tourists it hosted and the tourism income it gained. As of the second half of 2015, there was a period of severe crisis due to the re-emergence of terrorist incidents and some political problems.In this study, the crisis management approaches of 3-star, 4-star, 5-star hotels and private certified accommodation facilities operating in Fatih district of Istanbul were discussed. The research is a qualitative research feature and its data is obtained through semi-structured interviews with the general managers of the relevant enterprises. During the research, 22 interviews were conducted. It is seen that the crisis is a surprise for the enterprises and that the enterprises do not have any crisis management plans. It was understood that the enterprises had a more active crisis management in the crisis and after the crisis than before the crisis. Some adverse effects of the crisis were still observed. |
