Popis: Objective To evaluate the quality of life according to the location of the tumor in patients diagnosed with head and neck cancer. Study Design This is a cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of 74 patients with a diagnosis of head and neck cancer that were treated from January 2017 to January 2018 at 2 hospitals located in Feira de Santana city (Bahia-Brazil). The socioeconomic and clinical data were collected in a specific form and in the medical record, and the quality of life evaluation was performed using the University of Washington Quality of Life Questionnaire (UW-QOL), version 4. Results Regarding the composite quality of life domain of the UW-QOL questionnaire, the patients had a mean of 848, and chewing and anxiety were the most affected domains; saliva and shoulder were the least affected domains. When comparing tumor location with quality of life, the oral tumors had the worst mean (802) and thyroid tumors, the best mean (1053), being statistically significant (P = .044). Conclusions Head and neck cancer is a clinical condition that affects the patient's quality of life. The location of the tumor will determine the treatment to which the patient will be subjected and his or her quality of life.
