It is an adventurous undertaking, sometimes scary, often comical, frequently productive, at times frustrating, but always challenging. Collecting is what provides the basic materials systematists use in their research. Most collectors concentrate on their own specialties, but some of us are like human vacuum cleaners and pick up specimens of interest to others, or just because they look unusual or different. |
