| Popis: | The combination of idiopathic cystic medial necrosis and congenital aortic stenosis in a 12-year-old boy is described. The patient presented with acute dissecting aneurysm of the ascending aorta. Successful emergency surgery included replacement of the ascending aorta and aortic valve with prostheses by means of cardiopulmonary bypass and hypothermia. Considerations in the management of this lesion (cystic medial necrosis associated with congenital aortic stenosis) are discussed. |
