Popis: The galena-butyl xanthate system was studied by IR spectroscopy on the basis of the ATR method. Complex spectral contours of adsorbates were decomposed into individual components. Several forms of adsorption have been shown to form on “fresh” and oxidized PbS films, the ratio of adsorption forms being different depending on the state of the sorbent surface. Indeed, the main forms of adsorption on a “fresh” PbS film where oxidation processes are reduced to a minimum are represented by xanthate ion or radical and highly coordinated lead xanthate. On an oxidized PbS surface the collector is adsorbed predominantly in the form of differently coordinated lead xanthates and dixanthogen. The proposed analysis technique can be used in studying the mechanism of sulphide-flotation reagent interactions.
